No A.L. record broken Friday

It was sunny and warm Friday, but not warm enough to break the record for Jan. 6 of 49 set in 1933.

However, Austin set a record twice on Friday. Its record had been 39, set in 1961. The city began the day, with a temperature of 41 degrees at midnight and 1 a.m. as the Thursday heat was cooling. Then it rose again during the day, reaching 43 degrees at 3 p.m.

The air temperature in Albert Lea on Friday climbed to 43 shortly after 3 p.m., but it wasn’t enough to break the record.
