St. John’s Auxiliary met at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 16 in St. John’s Chapel. President Carol Rask welcomed everyone. Devotions were given by President Carol Rask.
Becky Nordland on piano led the group in singing “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” and “Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow.”
Auxiliary secretary Bonnie Schneider read the minutes of the December meeting. Treasurer Lorraine Schaper gave the treasurer’s report. Reports were approved as read.
The Audit Committee Helen Mork and Deloris Reamer reported that everything was found to be correct.
Adeline Biedermann, Chairman of Christmas Decorating Committee, thanked all of the volunteers who on Nov. 28, 2011, came in an decorated along with an activity person in each area of St. John’s. Staff, guests and residents all enjoy the holiday beauty.
Thanks also to volunteers who helped take decorations down on Jan. 2.
Volunteer Coordinator Caria Reichel reported 1,031 volunteer hours for December. Day Care had 35 hours, two You & Me Clubs, three Sing Alongs and one Drum Parade. There were 9,967 volunteer hours in 2011.
Diane Wichmann, activities director, reported on activities for residents: Lisa Murray “Singing Cowgirl,” Super Bowl Party, Singing Valentines, Loren Wolff — Country Western, Rev. Bob Berthold’s slides on Africa, Ash Wednesday Lenten Services and Hazzle Dazzle Parade.
Vice President Caroline Sorenson read the names of residents celebrating January birthdays: Constance Smidt, Stephanie Harmon, Donna Hogan, Audrey Nelson, Robert Schreiber, Evelyth Tiede, Richard Nelson, Alice Schmuck, Joanne Wangen-Fink, Viola Walterman and Warren Tuttle.
First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea was thanked for serving Sunday Coffee for the five Sundays in January.
The program was given by Jan Jerdee — “Partial History of St. John’s” and “Where were you in 1962?” It was a very interesting program on things that happened in 1962!
Refreshments were provided by Sue Bames and Second South with St. John’s Dietary Department.
The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
