Twin Lakes woman injured in crash

A Twin Lakes woman was injured in an automobile crash late Tuesday on U.S. Highway 69 south of Albert Lea.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2006 Honda Accord driven by Karen Sharpsteen, 64, of Albert Lea pulled out of a parking lot and was broadsided by a southbound 1989 Jeep Cherokee driven by Christal Hambright, 34, of Twin Lakes.

The collision happened at 11:54 p.m. Tuesday.

Hambright suffered a minor injury, according to the State Patrol report. She was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Her older-model Jeep didn’t have airbags.

Sharpsteen, who had an airbag, was uninjured.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. No alcohol was involved.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
