Albert Lea junior Garrett Wangsness broke the school wrestling record on Thursday for most takedowns in a season.
Wangsness, who’s ranked No. 4 at 113 pounds, recorded four takedowns against Rochester Century’s Alan Martinson for 114 on the season, before pinning him in one minute and 13 seconds.
The new mark beat the previous record of 112, set by Adam Elseth in 2004.
Wangsness was one of 12 Tigers to earn wins in a 71-12 rout at Century. The Panthers’ 12 points came by a forfeit at 106 and fall at 160.
The second-ranked Tigers wrestle next on Thursday against Waverly-Shell Rock in Waverly, Iowa.
