Weekend Planner: Albert Lea Family Y to hold health fair

The Albert Lea Family Y will host its annual Health Fair from 9 a.m. to noon at its location at 2021 W. Main St. Members and nonmembers alike are welcome. There will be door prizes, free fitness classes and open swim time.

Community vendors will be at the fair to perform blood pressure checks, give chair massages and demonstrate certain pieces of equipment. Hy-Vee’s dietitian, Amy Pleimling, will also be present to talk with those who are interested.

 

Saturday

• A pancake breakfast will be at the Alden American Legion from 8 to 11 a.m. Cost is $3.

• The Albert Lea Family Y will host a health fair from 9 a.m. to noon.

• The Freeborn American Legion Auxiliary will host its soup and pie supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Legion in Freeborn. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 5 to 10 and free for children under age 5. Soups include chili, vegetable beef and chicken noodle as well as various pies for dessert. Take-outs and in-Freeborn deliveries are available by calling 507-863-2130.

• The Freeborn County Humane Society will host a “Spay-ghetti Supper” from 5 to 7 p.m. at the New Life Christian Church at 1705 SE Marshall St. near Advance Auto. Donations will be accepted, and proceeds benefit spay-and-neuter programs.

• The Northwestern Singers will host a concert at 7 p.m. at Austin’s Historic Paramount Theatre. Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for students.
