Having lived in Freeborn County 84 of my 90 years, graduating from Albert Lea High School, I can remember there have been many change on Broadway Avenue. Some businesses have located elsewhere, some changed their names, some no longer exist. Here are some of them: Hotel Albert, Jefferson Bus Terminal, Canton Cafe, Skinner Chamberlain, Ben Franklin, Weber Deeps Shop, Interstate Power Co., Stevensons, Behrends Drug, Woolworths, Spurgeons, Sanders Drug, St. Paul Clothing, Wallace’s, Gulbrandson Hardware, Rivoli Theatre, Broadway Theatre, KATE Radio, Kelsey’s Popcorn and the Albert Lea Tribune.
