To vintage snowmobile enthusiasts.
Who knew there was even such a group? Now the whole community knows about these old-school motorized sled lovers because they are heading up Operation Vintage Pride, an effort to send care packages to U.S. soldiers. Not only are they getting the word out about their club, but they are supporting a worthy cause.
Doesn’t it seem just plain dumb to attempt to counterfeit money? Sure, the idea might work once in a while, but users of fake money get caught again and again and again. That’s because real money is so much more sophisticated than compared to a decade or two ago. Counterfeiting currency is like volunteering for federal prison.
Would it really be too hard to come up with an easier way for audiences to catch all the Oscar-nominated films before the Academy Awards were presented? If they really want to boost TV ratings for the awards show, they need to help audiences see the best of the best in the weeks prior to the show. Movie rental places — what’s left of them anyway — in January and February should have a section for “Oscar-nominated.” Online streaming services such as Netflix could do the same. Studios could help theaters hold Oscar nights — perhaps the first weekend in February — where theaters show nothing but Oscar-nominated movies. Hollywood can do amazing things. Surely, the movie industry can come together to help audiences see the best movies more conveniently.
To the NRHEG girls’ basketball team.
Any team that can post an undefeated season surely deserves a thumbs up from the Trib. Congratulations to the Panthers of New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva High School. These girls beat top teams, blew out bad teams and scored 70 points per game. They are a scoring machine! We encourage local sports fans to follow them through the state playoffs in March. Go to their games and let your voices be heard!
