Albert Lea High School junior Chrissy Monson was named one of the state’s ExCEL award-winners by the Minnesota State High School League.
The award goes to 32 juniors who participate in League-sponsored fine arts and/or athletic activity, hold leadership positions in their schools, work voluntarily in their community, are making satisfactory progress towards graduation and meet MSHSL General Eligibility Requirements, according to ALHS Activities Director John Double. The school nominated a boy and girl for the award.
Monson is a standout cross country and track runner and won a state championship last season in the Class AA 1,600-meter run.
“It is great to have an ExCEL winner in our school and a recognition few students and schools receive during the school year,” Double said. “Congratulations to Monson on this great recognition.”
