The Lighthouse Event Center in Albert Lea is offering murder, cowboys, jazz and art classes in coming weeks.
The next event at 621 Marshal St. is a Valentine’s Murder Mystery Dinner Theater show at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $25 and includes your choice of boneless garlic chicken or roast beef, and the dinner also comes with spinach strawberry salad, twice-baked potato, vegetable and triple chocolate cake.
Reservations can be made by calling 373-3144, and organizers need at least 50 people to sign up for the event.
The Lighthouse Event Center will also host the Galactic Cowboy Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25. A violinist in the group, Elisa Wright, was a member of the Austin High School’s orchestra in 2001-03.
The Minneapolis-based quartet has been touring extensively throughout the Midwest and classify themselves as newgrass art/jazz rock. The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra fuses jazz, classical, bluegrass, art-rock, Indian ragas and their own original stylings.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door and $5 for students. Tickets are available at Marshall Street Music, Hy-Vee and Stadheim Jewelers in Albert Lea, and Coffee House on Main in Austin.
And, finally, the event center will offer performance art classes for ages 6 to 13. The after-school classes will run for six weeks from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The finale will be at 3 p.m. March 31.
The classes will help kids learn how to sing, dance, act and audition. There will be special guests who will direct and give tips on how to audition and get roles.
Contact Merle Krause at the Lighthouse at 373-3144 or Carrie Boyer Olvera at 507-402-4251 with questions. Cost for the performance art classes is $100.
