Weather forecasters are saying the big winter storm mostly will pass to the south, but that doesn’t mean Albert Lea won’t see some white stuff.

The Chanhassen bureau of the National Weather Service said snow is expected in the counties of Freeborn, Martin and Faribault today and tonight, with accumulations of about 1 to 3 inches “with higher amounts south of Interstate 90 and west of Fairmont.”

As for Friday through Wednesday, the bureau said a low-pressure system will pass to the north Sunday and Monday, bringing snowfall to much of Minnesota. And it said a second storm system has a chance of developing in the Great Plains and hitting southern Minnesota by Wednesday.
