Weekend Planner: 4-H’ers will show off talent on Sunday

Freeborn County 4-H’ers will show off their talent during their Share the Fun variety show Sunday at Southwest Middle School’s Little Theatre. The show starts at 1:30 p.m., there’s no admission but donations will be accepted.

Children from the county’s clubs will perform in different categories like singing, skits and other miscellaneous presentations. There will be a winner and an alternate chosen for each category. The overall winner of the event will perform at the State Fair in the fall. During an intermission there will be refreshments available, and donations will be accepted for those as well.

Friday

• St. Theodore Catholic Church will host a fish fry from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at its Marian Hall. Cost is $9 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under and free for children under 3. Menu includes fish, shrimp, baked or mashed potatoes, cole slaw, rolls, ice cream with toppings and beverage.

 

Saturday

• The Freeborn County Humane Society will host an open house for people to see its new addition from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its location at 101 James Ave., near Frank Hall Park. Refreshments will be served.

• The Emmons Firefighters Relief Association and First Responders will host a soup and pie supper from 4 to 7 p.m. at Emmons Lutheran Church. Donations will be accepted and proceeds will assist in training and equipment costs.

• The Albert Lea American Legion will host a baseball fundraiser from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The soup and bread supper costs $6 per person, and children 6 and under eat free.

• The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra will hold a concert at the Lighthouse Event Center in Albert Lea at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults in advance, $5 for students and $15 for adults at the door before the concert.

 

Sunday

• The Albert Lea American Legion will host a breakfast where $1 of the suggested $7 donation will go to the church youth group of your choice. Menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, juice and coffee. The breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and children age 6 and under get in free.

• The Sons of Norway will host a pannakaker breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sons of Norway Lodge across from City Arena. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children and free for children under age 5. Menu includes rolled pancakes with lingonberries, scrambled eggs, parsley potatoes, juice and coffee.

• Freeborn County 4-H’ers will hold the Share The Fun event at Southwest Little Theatre at 1:30 p.m. Come see the kids perform in the variety show.
