The Tigers are ready to roar again.
Students from each grade at Albert Lea High School are participating in the annual Tigers Roar variety show. The show opens tonight at 7 p.m. with two more shows at the same time Friday and Saturday.
Directors are teachers Linda Kiesler and Mindy Kruger. Masters of ceremony are Nick Bera, Duncan Kromminga, Sergio Salgado and Stuart Behling. The theme is “Roarin’ Around the World,” and Bera and Duncan said they try to tie together the acts while pretending they’re going around the world.
“The show’s not about us,” Kromminga said. “We want to make it about the talented people in the show.”
Bera said they try to include some comedic parts to get the audience to laugh and also to make people feel like they’re part of the show. Both Bera and Kromminga agreed that all the acts are good and that there’s enough variety to please any audience member. Director Kiesler agreed.
“There’s something for all ages,” Kiesler said.
All grades, eighth- through 12th-grade are represented in the show including one act by sisters Ashley and Emma Tewes; Ashley’s a senior while Emma is an eighth-grader.
Other students performing include Kelsey Thomas and Stuart Behling on piano; Lawrence Pederson with Regin Reyes; the high school’s drumline; Rika Boorsma and Taylor Willis; Macy Paul, Lindsey Horejsi, Angie Schmitt, Katie Appel and Katelyn Hendrickson; Emma Behling; Tyler Shaw and Miles Erdman; the ALHS “CAT”aclysmic Show Choir; Savannah Simpson; Claire Buendorf; Emma, Cammy and Ashley Tewes with Samantha Stanley and Samantha Nielsen; Cierra Maras with Gretta Johnson, Karli Kriewall, Abby Pleiss and Megan Gilbertson; and more.
“We look forward to having the show, and appreciate the support we’ve gotten from the community,” Kruger said. “We hope everyone enjoys it.”
Student managers include Katie Callahan, Michelle Hartmann and Laura Piper. Stage crew includes students Sami Koppedryer, Robin Crawford, Kade Wiemerslage, Angeles Vazquez, Maria Garcia, Stephanie Luna, Alex Avelar and Wyatt Manges.
