HASTINGS — A Northfield woman has pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the death of her toddler son.

Twenty-one-year-old Melissa Ohmann was accused of failing to get medical help for her 17-month-old son, Nicholas Miller, after he was injured in June 2009.

Ohmann agreed to plead guilty to manslaughter in exchange for a sentence of six months to a year in jail.

The judge said she needs more information before accepting the plea agreement. Sentencing is set for June 12.

Ohmann’s former husband, Tylar Hokanson, was previously convicted in the boy’s death. He was accused of shaking the toddler so hard it caused bleeding in his brain and a broken back. The boy died at a relative’s house in Wisconsin four days after he was injured.
