A Glencoe man on Monday was sentenced to sex offender treatment and probation for inappropriate sexual conduct with a teenager over a six-year span.

However, Shawn Allen Kaehn, 31, will not have to serve any additional jail time unless he violates his probation. If he does so, he will face up to 36 months in prison, according to his sentence from Freeborn County District Court Judge Steve Schwab.

Kaehn in September pleaded guilty to one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct of a 16- to 17-year-old involving multiple acts. The plea came as part of an agreement between his public defender and the Freeborn County Attorney’s Office.

Schwab ordered Kaehn register as a predatory offender. He must also have no contact with minors in a private setting — other than his 3-year-old son — unless otherwise approved by his Minnesota Department of Corrections agent.

Kaehn must provide a DNA sample, pay a $500 fine, submit to a polygraph if directed and have no contact with the victim or her family.

Schwab said Kaehn will receive credit for 81 days he spent in the Freeborn County Jail after his arrest and will be on probation for up to 10 years.

Schwab also ordered Kaehn not use or possess alcohol or mood-altering chemicals and submit to random testing to verify this.

He will not be allowed to have Internet access unless approved by the Department of Corrections and will not be allowed to possess any pornographic material.

Kaehn initially faced four charges, including one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct; however, those charges were dismissed as part of the agreement.
