St. John’s Auxiliary met at 2 p.m. March 19 in St. John’s Chapel. President Carol Rask welcomed everyone. Devotions were given by the Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister.

Becky Nordland on piano led the group in singing “Children of the Heavenly Father,” “Now Thank We All Our God” and “The Birthday Song.”

Auxiliary secretary Bonnie Schneider read the minutes of the February meeting. Treasurer Lorraine Schaper gave the treasurer’s report. Reports were approved as read. The executive board and auxiliary are donating $1,800 to the activities department for the garden fund and $500 for the Pelican Breeze tour.

Volunteer Coordinator Caria Reichel reported 749 volunteer hours for February. Day Care had 34 hours, four You & Me Clubs and two sing alongs.

Diane Wichmann, activities director, announced activities for residents: Young & Oldies from Austin were at the St. Patrick’s Day Party on March 16, and gardening will soon be starting. Holy Week, residents will be making Easter bonnets, L.A. Sasse music will be on April 3, Richard Hagdom music on April 10, Broke High School Band from Minneapolis on April 12, Volunteer Banquet on April 18 at 11:30 a.m., slide show of yesterday years by Roger Lonning on April 19 at 6:30 p.m. Cowboy Jim on April 20, Lisa Murphy Singing Cowgirl from Mankato on April 25, Veteran talk by Eunice Hatleli, president of the VFW on April 26 at 4 p.m. Senior Shop on April 20 with clothing show from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Jim Haney and high school student interview with residents on April 30. Most activities are at 10:30 a.m. unless otherwise stated.

Vice President Caroline Sorenson read the names of residents celebrating March birthdays: Jewell Dahl, Arthur Richter, Sherman Bendickson, Ralph Holman, Gerrit Hoogenraad, Vemon Nelson, Norma Carey, Eveleyn Morreim, Rosella Bruhn, Betty Sabinish, Martha Rasmussen, Jon Stoneback, Mildred Hopperstad, Deloris Peterson, Ben Schoon Jr., Bumette Grunhood and Mark McConnell.

Churches thanked for serving Sunday coffee were Zion Lutheran, Bethel Lutheran, West Freeborn and Cross of Glory Hartland.

The program was provided by Ken Bertelson on keyboard and Millard Hamborg on accordion. They entertained with waltzes, schottishes and other music. There was much toe-tapping done by the residents.

Refreshments were provided by 2nd South — Sue and Marilyn.

The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
