A.L. athletes get 8 first place finishes

The Albert Lea boys’ track and field team placed third (51) behind Mankato West (78) and Austin (57) on Tuesday during a meet in Austin.
The Tigers had four first places finishes, six second place and four third place.
Bryce DeBoer took first place in the shot put, Tyler Wichmann in the long and high jumps, and the team of Sean Laurie, Kohl Kriewall, Dylan Anderson and Clay Bratten placed first in the 4×400 meter relay.
Second place finishes include: Brody Sundblad in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Laurie in the 400-meter dash, Brandon Bonnerup in the 1,600-meter run and Tyler Wichmann in the 110-high hurdles.
The relay team of Laurie, Bratten, Luke Ellis and Isaac Staat placed second in the 4 x 800-meter race and the relay team of Anderson, Kriewall, Staat and Sam Thompson placed second in the 4×200 meter relay.
Third place finishes include: Blair Bonnerup in the 3,200-meter run, Wichmann in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, DeBoer in the discus and Sundblad in the 110 high hurdles.
The Albert Lea girls’ track and field team took second place (65) in the Austin meet.
Austin finished first (67) and Mankato West (54) finished third.
The Tigers had four first place finishes, nine second place and six third place.
Sam Stanley placed first in the 400-meter run, Galen Schulz in the 300-meter hurdles, Chrissy Monson in the 1,600-meter run and the relay team of Stanley, Ashley Tewes, Sydney Rehnelt and Monson took first in the 4×400 meter relay.
Second place finishes for the girls include Becca Dup in the 100-meter dash, Dup in the 200-meter run, Anna Englin in the 800-meter run, Rachel Kenis in the 1,600-meter run, Gretta Johnson in the 100-meter hurdles, Larissa Hacker in the 300-meter hurdles and Kelly Nelson in the discus.
Two of the girls’ relay teams also finished second. The relay team of Coleen Thompson, Sara Savelkoul, Rehnelt and Stanely finished second in the 4×200 meter relay. And the team of Monson, Kelsey Thomas, Tewes and Englin finished second in the 4×800 meter run.
Third place finishes include: Danielle Staat in the 100-meter dash, Emma Behling in the 3,200-meter run, Annie Ladwig in the high jump, Rehnelt in the long jump, Jensen Goodell in the triple jump and Karlie Kriewall in the pole vault.
