The Albert Lea boys’ golf team beat Waseca at home on Thursday 303-332.
The Tigers were led by senior Brady Falk who shot a 72.
Due to work on Green Lea’s course, the par was adjusted to 71 meaning Falk shot just one over.
Falk, who is still recovering from a major wrist injury from the hockey season, is the Tigers’ captain and has been a varsity regular for three years and lettered as a freshman.
“For him to start out like this has to be a major confidence boost,” Tigers coach Riley Worth said.
According to Worth, Falk is a 4.0 student and has been accepted into Barrett, the honors college at Arizona State University.
“I may coach for 30 years and never meet a neater kid than Brady,” Worth said. “He’s a great role model for the younger players.”
The win against Waseca boosted the overall team confidence as well.
“We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, but they really gave us the idea that we can be a contender in the Big Nine,” Worth said.
