ROBBINSDALE — School officials say a Robbinsdale Cooper High School student died while playing basketball.

Kalonyea Wopea, a junior at the school, collapsed Thursday while playing basketball at the Northwest YMCA in New Hope. Emergency personnel tried to revive him but were not successful. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Robbinsdale school district officials sent out a note to students and parents Friday morning and said grief counselors have been at Cooper High School all day to provide support.
