Severe thunderstorms breezed through the Albert Lea area Wednesday night and again this morning; however, the worst of it went to the north.
TV stations broke into programming Wednesday evening to point out storm warnings and possible tornado conditions in the Mankato area and in the Red Wing area.
The Mankato Free Press reported that reports of hail as large as two inches in diameter were found near North Mankato. One-inch hail was found from Lake Crystal to Waseca, it said.
“Trained weather spotters did report a rotating wall cloud south of Mankato but there were no reports of funnel clouds or touchdowns,” the newspaper reported.
