On Saturday, the United South Central/Alden-Conger girls’ track and field team competed at the state True Team meet in Stillwater.
The team finished sixth out of the 170 Class A teams in Minnesota.
“The state True Team meet is always a very positive experience for those athletes who can get there,” Rebels coach Kent Viesselman said. “I think some of our younger girls were in awe at first, but the experiences learned will really benefit them in the future.”
Viesselman said the 4×800-meter relay team made up of Amber Klein, Andree Escherich, Samantha Chaffee and Bailey Olson, ran their best time of the season and finished fourth.
He added performances by Emily Mantor and Bethany Koziolek in the 1,600-meter run were exceptional.
Prior to the True Team meet, the team won the conference championship by more than 70 points.
The Rebels boys’ and girls’ track and field teams will compete in sub-sections in New Richland on Thursday.
The top four individuals and the top two relay teams will advance to the section meet.
