Weekend Planner: Father and daughter duo come to Lighthouse

Daughter and father will rock the Lighthouse Event Center this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Nicholas Carter, who plays the harp, will be accompanied by his daughter, Maylia, on vocals. Tickets are $10 in advance at Marshall Street Music, Hy-Vee and Stadheim Jewelers in Albert Lea and at Coffee House on Main in Austin. Tickets at the door will be $15.
Then this Sunday see the Southeastern Chamber Orchestra at First Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. The orchestra will be joined by members of the First Lutheran Chamber Choir and the Albert Lea Community Chorus in performing the requiem “Eternal Light.” Other hymns performed will be “Above All,” “What a Friend We Have In Jesus” and more. Tickets are available in advance at the church or at Marshall Street Music for $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and free for students. At the door tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors. Light refreshments will be served following the concert.
Friday
• Zion Lutheran Church hosts a salad luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds go to mission projects. Cost is $5.
• Albert Lea High School hosts an orchestra concert starting at 7 p.m.
Saturday
• Albert Lea’s Shades of Jade Garden Club will sell perennial flowers starting at 7 a.m. until the plants are gone at Northbridge Mall in Albert Lea.
• The Albert Lea Airport hosts a Young Eagles Rally from 8 a.m. to noon.
Sunday
• The annual Mother’s Day Horse Show, put on by the Sunset Saddle Club, will start at 8 a.m. at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. The public is invited to come out and see hundreds of horses. There’s no cost to attend.
• First Lutheran Church hosts the Southeastern Chamber Orchestra at 7 p.m.
