Can city attorney find the letters?

Fellow citizens, I have delivered the petition to the Albert Lea mayor and City Council. The petition includes some very nice comments that they need to take seriously. While I was at the meeting, I should have asked the city attorney why his files are in such disarray. When trying to get a copy of communication between the Waseca County attorney and the Albert Lea city attorney regarding charges being dropped against former City Manager Jim Norman, our city attorney didn’t have anything.

I have worked with lawyers for 20 years and know that nothing is done between attorneys that isn’t in some written form. If this is the way the city attorney handles his files, then perhaps we need a new city attorney. It’s his job to make sure that things are done legally for the city, and if you have sent correspondence to another lawyer and received correspondence back, that should be in the file.

Well, where is that letter? I’m still waiting for a copy of that letter so someone should find it.

Since I can no longer repeat the same subject in the paper, I do have one other message. Has anyone wondered what kind of job reference the city will give should former Finance Director Rhonda Moen look for another job at some point? Will they give an honest reference that, yes, she was very good at her job but also she used a city credit card for personal use? Think about that for a minute or two.
