This fall eighth-grade students took the EXPLORE test, the eighth-grade version of the ACT. Students who scored in the 90th percentile or higher were invited to attend a trip to Minnesota State University in Mankato. On April 23, 30 eighth-grade students from Albert Lea High School were invited to attend the all-day field trip. With the help of gifted and talents funds, Albert Lea High School was able to offer this opportunity. Students received a tour of campus, a presentation by a college admissions counselor including materials, lunch in the dining hall, a view of campus life and a trip to the bookstore. Students were grateful for the opportunity and for many it was their first time on campus.
