LAKE MILLS, Iowa — The Bulldogs got a win on Monday against Belmond-Klemme, but it wasn’t a good one.
The Broncos has nine hits, triple the amount the Bulldogs did, but Lake Mills came out on top 7-5 after seven innings.
“The team didn’t hit well tonight so we were fortunate the opposing pitchers couldn’t find the strike zone in the second inning and we scored enough runs to win,” Bulldogs coach Jason Blaser said.
Six Bulldogs were walked to first in the second inning.
The Broncos used three pitchers, and the Bulldogs used Luke Kayser and Taylor Throne in relief.
“Luke threw well for us on short rest,” Blaser said. “He likes getting the baseball anytime he can.”
Blaser said the team needs to continue to improve on its at-bat approach.
“There were times that the hitters weren’t taking good swings at quality pitches,” Blaser said.
The Bulldogs host St. Ansgar tonight at 5:45 p.m.
