ARLINGTON, Texas — The Minnesota Twins are going into the All-Star break a little thunderstruck.

Ian Kinsler lined a game-winning single in the 13th inning for the AL West-leading Texas Rangers, giving them a 4-3 victory Sunday night after they had scored three unearned runs in the ninth.

“A disappointing loss for us,” Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.

Along with extra innings in the last game before the All-Star break, there was a 46-minute delay in the fourth inning that started with a lightning bolt and a loud clap of thunder.

Minnesota had padded a 1-0 lead in the top of the ninth with two unearned runs off All-Star closer Joe Nathan, whose throwing error against his former team led to a run before Denard Span hit a sacrifice fly.

Then Kinsler, one of eight Rangers going to the All-Star game, led off the ninth reaching on a two-base throwing error before Glen Perkins threw a wild pitch. Elvis Andrus then had an RBI groundout before slugger Josh Hamilton popped out to third base.
