MINNEAPOLIS — Sen. Amy Klobuchar has easily won her Democratic primary as she looks for a second term in Washington.
Klobuchar overwhelmed frequent candidates Dick Franson, Jack Shepard and Darryl Stanton, none of whom mounted a major campaign, on Tuesday.
Klobuchar was the first woman to be elected senator from Minnesota when she won in 2006 after two terms as the Hennepin County prosecutor. She currently serves on the Agriculture, Judiciary and Commerce committees.
Republicans endorsed state Rep. Kurt Bills to take on Klobuchar. She has focused her campaign on accomplishments she says have helped the lives of normal Minnesotans, and on her ability to work across the aisle on government and consumer reforms.
