Beulah Yaney, 97, Bloomington

Beulah Yaney, age 97, died Aug. 1, 2012. She was preceded in death by spouses, Jasper Tostrud, Frank Schoenbeck and Job Yaney; daughter, Arnita Tostrud; brother, Aldred Lee; and sister, Ethlelyn Price.
Beulah was born Nov. 12, 1914, in La Crosse, Wis. Her parents, Brent and Aurelia Lee were farmers in Holmen, Wis. After graduating from Holmen High School in 1932, she attended La Crosse State Teachers College and received a rural school teaching certificate. At the age of 18, she began teaching at the Black Oak School near Mindoro, Wis.
Following her marriage to Jasper Tostrud in 1937, they moved to Albert Lea. They became members of First Lutheran Church where Beulah taught Sunday school and worked with Luther League, Altar Guild and Ladies Aid.
Beulah began working at Sears in Albert Lea in 1957 as a telephone order clerk and thoroughly enjoyed her 21-year career.
She was an active volunteer her entire life. In addition to her church activities, she was also involved with a study club and the PTA. She gave more than 12,000 hours of volunteer work at the Knapp Medical Auxiliary in Weslaco, Texas, where she wintered for many years.
Beulah moved to the Presbyterian Home in Bloomington in 1998 and continued her volunteer work as chairwoman of the dining room committee. She is survived by sons, Jerry (Alleen) Tostrud, of Naples, Fla., Merlin Tostrud of Glendale, Calif.; and grandchildren Eric (Laurie) Tostrud of Mendota Heights, Karen (Chris) Hoffmann of Stillwater, and Jon (Amy) Tostruct of Los Angeles. She is also survived by her brother Boyd (Bernice) Lee of Holmen, Wis., six great-grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 24 at Augustana Lutheran Church at 1400 S. Robert St. in West St. Paul. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service.
