Good Samaritan Society free of deficiencies

The Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea is celebrating a deficiency-free health survey. The Minnesota Department of Health in July found the center deficiency free on maintaining compliance with both state and federal requirements.
Surveys are conducted to ensure nursing homes are meeting state and federal standards, which regulate how care must be provided to residents.
At the center, surveyors interviewed a variety of staff members, family members and residents. They reviewed quality of care and quality of life, observance of residents’ rights and whether the center meets environmental standards of cleanliness and is hazard-free. Facilities that do not meet all these standards must correct deficiencies, or they face a variety of sanctions.
“I am so proud of each and every employee at Good Samaritan Society — Albert Lea,” Administrator Katie Davis said. “It truly takes an entire team approach to accomplish a deficiency-free survey. This survey is another reminder of the outstanding care we provide to those we serve.”
The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society is the nation’s largest not-for-profit provider of senior care and services, with more than 240 long-term health care centers and senior living communities across the country, including Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. The Good Samaritan Society’s mission is to share God’s love in word and deed by providing shelter and supportive services to older persons and others in need.
