MARSHALL — The Marshall City Council has approved a low-interest loan and grant to help bring a craft brewery to the southwestern Minnesota city.
The Brau Brothers Brewing Company is based about 15 miles east in Lucan but needs more space. The council on Tuesday approved $250,000 in public funding to help the company move its brewing equipment into a Marshall building. Brau Brothers is also pursuing foundation, bank and private financing.
Marshall Economic Development Authority Director Cal Brink told the council the move would create about eight full-time jobs in Marshall.
The brewery also hopes to bring visitors to town for tours, sampling and other public events.
Brau Brothers CEO Dustin Brau says the move has been more than a year in the making.
