MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities say a Minneapolis park police officer was stabbed after confronting a robbery suspect, who was shot and injured by another officer.

The park police officers responded to a call about a robbery at knifepoint near Minnehaha Creek about 11:30 Tuesday night. Officials said the officers confronted a man near a pedestrian bridge. There was an altercation and a female officer was stabbed in the shoulder. She also suffered a head wound from the altercation. Her police partner, a male officer, shot the suspect at least once.

Injuries to the suspect are not believed to be life-threatening. Park Police Chief Linda Bergstrom said she’s thankful the officers weren’t more seriously injured.
