Why mark street during a detour?

Once again our illustrious city planning has shown us how much they think about the workings of the city.

I took the East Main Street detour down Garfield Avenue past the Kwik Trip, when what should I see but cones across one lane of traffic on the street because of wet paint. The first day of the detour and, thinking about folks who might not be familiar with that street, I wondered what possessed the city to paint this street on this day.

Perhaps the planners and city should pay more attention to doing a job that needs to be done, but not on the street that is the detour route for that day.

Could we the people, who pay the wages of the city employees, please have them do a good job, instead of the employees trying to protect their job, or worse by breaking the law while employed by the city?

What a concept!
