You Can Help

These are volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Getting ready for school: Families and students are making plans for children’s time out of school. Answers are in the activity guide and community resources booklet being distributed at the conferences/orientation for parents and student before school begins. Volunteers are needed in Alden from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27, in Albert Lea on Aug. 29 and 30 and in Glenville on Sept. 4. Volunteers are also needed for Southwest Middle School on Aug. 29. Call 377-7433 to help families get their planners.
Front desk help: The SEMCAC Office in Albert Lea needs two to three people to answer phones from 1 to 4:30 p.m. for one or two days a week. You can get additional details by calling 373-1329.
Reading help: Children need an audience when they build their skills for reading aloud. Beginning Sept. 17, adults can be that person who encourages a child’s success in school through increased reading skills. Call Linda Bottelson at 383-1466 or Pat Stumme at 377-7433 for more information and to volunteer. Your presence means so much for today and all the tomorrows to come.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
