MANLY, Iowa — Two area residents were injured Sunday night after a rear-end crash near Manly, Iowa, that ended with both vehicles catching fire.
Michael Scott Chodur, 46, of Kensett, Iowa, and Lynn Maynard Weedman, 57, of Glenville, were transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa for injuries, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Weedman was reportedly treated and transferred to another hospital.
No information was available on Chodur as of this morning, according to a hospital spokesman.
The State Patrol states both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Worth County A39, just west of Nuthatch, just before 11 p.m. Sunday when Chodur, in a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette, rear-ended Weedman, also in a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette.
Reports indicate Weedman’s car went into the north ditch and caught fire, coming to rest on its wheels facing west.
Chodur’s car came to rest in the middle of the highway facing east, where it also caught fire.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, the Manly Fire Department and the Worth County Sheriff’s Office.
