Permit burning suspended

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office issued a suspension on all permit burning Saturday evening.
The suspension applies to fires that are larger than recreational fires and for which a permit is required.
Recreational fires and grilling are still allowed.
People who contact the Law Enforcement Center to inquire about a burning permit will be told that all burning by permit has been suspended. Individuals who elect to burn after being advised not to, or those who burn without a permit, will be in violation of Minnesota’s open burning laws and are subject to citation and prosecution. All prohibited fires will be extinguished and associated costs will be charged to the people responsible for burning.
