Marie Nelson, 88, Austin

Marie B. Nelson, 88, of Austin, formerly of Glenville, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Comforcare Good Samaritan Society in Austin. Marie was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Duluth and later adopted by John and Minnie Prihoda. She grew up in rural London and attended school there. On Oct. 14, 1942, she married Bernard “Bernie” Nelson in Austin. Marie was a member of Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church and was a member of the circle there. She also worked as the lunch lady at the Lyle school. Marie liked to crochet and bowled in a league. She loved to spend time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Lois Dain, Waupaca, Wis., Robert I. (Darlene) Nelson, Ripon, Wis., Debra (Derry) Olsen, Lyle, Randy (Linda Langstaff) Nelson, Austin; eight grandchildren, Scott, Todd, Michael, Jolene, Bob J., Melissa, Bradley, Justin; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melville and Jenny Thompson, her adoptive parents John and Minnie Prihoda, her husband, Bernie, and son-in-law, Jerome Dain.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ronald Myers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the London Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Good Samaritan Society Comforcare in Austin or to the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church, Glenville.
