‘White Christmas’ debuts Friday

The classic holiday show “White Christmas” debuts on Friday at Albert Lea’s Lighthouse Event Center.
The show features local talent performing the well-known songs and plot based on the popular 1950s movie. Lighthouse co-owner Celeste Krause said tickets are going fast.
“This is going to be a wonderful performance,” Krause said.
The show opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday and continues with a 7:30 p.m. show Saturday and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Two more performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15. Tickets are $12 in advance at Marshall Street Music, Hy-Vee or Stadheim Jewelers in Albert Lea or at Coffee House on Main in Austin.
Friday
• Learn more about Saturday’s opera viewing by going to Prairie Wind Coffee from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Hear the story and more information about the show and mingle with fellow opera-lovers.
• View a live drive-through Nativity scene from 7 to 9 p.m. at New Life Christian Church, 1705 S.E. Marshall St. in Albert Lea. The event is free and open to the public.
• The Lighthouse Event Center hosts “White Christmas” at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance or $17 at the door.
Saturday
• From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be a craft and lefse sale at 443 Main St. in Emmons.
• A breakfast fundraiser benefitting Albert Lea boys’ basketball programs will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the high school commons area. The featured menu item is Dad’s Belgian waffles. Tickets are $7.
• See a live high-definition viewing of the New York Metropolitan Opera’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” at noon at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. General tickets are $20, and tickets for students under age 30 are $12. Civic Music and ACT season ticket holders can see the opera for $18.
• The Careyaires men’s chorus will perform at 2:30 p.m. at the Northbridge Mall.
