Owner eyes 18th Avenue
Jimmy John’s is coming to Austin, and will be in a new strip mall on 18th Avenue Northwest.
Pat McCauley, who owns four other Jimmy John’s in the region, told the Herald about the move Tuesday, adding that it should bring 30 to 35 new jobs.
“We’re excited to come to Austin,” McCauley said.
Community Development Director Craig Hoium told the Austin Planning Commission the retail strip center would have three or four lease spaces, but didn’t say what the other businesses would be.
McCauley and his business partner, Jason Kerr, both of Owatonna, will own the sandwich shop. He said they will most likely promote employees from other Jimmy John’s to manage the Austin location, as well as hire Austin residents.
