Winnebago gets recognitions

One of the major private employers of the region has been recognized as a top performer in its industry.

Forest City, Iowa-based Winnebago Industries was noted for being the top performing motor-home manufacturer, having both the largest volume and largest overall growth in 2012, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., a retail reporting service based in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Winnebago was listed as the top selling manufacturer for Class A and Class C motorhomes in 2012, with market share of 20.6 percent compared to 19.0 percent in 2011. Winnebago Industries’ volume growth was 16.1 percent above retail registrations during 2011 compared to industry growth of 7.3 percent.

“We are passionate about developing and delivering innovative new products of the highest quality backed by best-in-class support after the sale,” said Winnebago Industries Vice President of Sales and Product Management Scott Degnan in a news release.

In existence since 1958, Winnebago Industries builds motorhomes, travel trailers and fifth-wheel products under the Winnebago, Itasca, Era and SunnyBrook brand names. It sells to about 230 dealers in the U.S. and Canada.

Counting Winnebago manufacturing plants in Forest City, Charles City and Middlebury, Ind., Winnebago employs 2,380 people, as of August 2012.
