ST. PAUL — Minnesota lawmakers are considering a bill to make sellers of concert tickets publicly reveal how many tickets are held back from sale to the public.

The bill is up for review and possible vote today in the Senate Judiciary Committee. It’s supported by online ticket broker StubHub, which is battling perceptions that when popular shows sell out quickly it’s because tickets are snapped up for resale at higher prices.

In December, tickets for a Kenny Chesney show at Target Field sold out in 30 minutes.

The bill’s supporters say large blocks of tickets are frequently set aside for promotions by credit card companies, radio stations and others. The bill wouldn’t prevent that, but supporters say it would help disappointed fans understand what happened.
