Meet Peggy Newell
Age: 60
Livelihood: bookkeeper
City: Albert Lea
For how long: 35 years
Tell us about your family: I come from a family of five. I have a fraternal twin sister, one brother and two sisters. I was married to my husband, Tom, in June of 1975, and have two sons, Charles and David. I also have a dog, Lucy, and a cat, Cisco.
Where do you volunteer and how long have you volunteered there? I have been volunteering at the Albert Lea Family Y for the last 30 years.
Why do you volunteer? I began because I wanted my sons to be involved in youth activities and the programs needed adult coaches. I enjoyed what I was doing with them and continued to volunteer in other areas to include an adult fitness program.
What was the last book you read? I am reading “The Vatican Diaries.” I started the book because I went to high school with the author. Although I haven’t finished it yet, it is an interesting read and has a lot of information applicable to things that are currently happening at the Vatican.
What are your hobbies? I enjoy running, biking, traveling overseas, knitting and spending time with my family.
What’s your favorite movie? Most recently I liked the movie “Lincoln.”
