At its awards banquet, the Albert Lea Figure Skating Club recognized several skaters for their sportsmanship and achievements, according to a news release.
These awards are named after skating jumps in honor of these members taking the club to new heights.
For freestyle awards, Katie Bradley received the Lutz Award for most improved skater of the season. Courtney Field received the Axel Award for coaches’ choice. Maddie VanBeek received the Flip Award for the hardest-working skater, and Emma Tewes received the Loop-y Award for being the most motivating skater.
For basic skills awards, Angelina Minear received the Waltz Award for coach’s choice, and Delaney VanderSyde received the Bunny Hop Award for most improved skater.
The club also welcomed three basic skills skaters into the freestyle level, meaning they can audition for a number in the annual show and participate in additional acts: Faith Christenson, Dani Helland and Tierney Murtaugh. These skaters have completed all eight levels of basic skills.
