Memorial services for Duane Frondal, 81, of Albert Lea, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. George Marin will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Duane died on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at his home.
Duane A. Frondal was born on Aug. 16, 1931, in Oakland Township, the son of Henry and Esther (Christiansen) Frondal. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school and then Albert Lea High School. On July 28, 1987, Duane was married to Donna Riemann in California. Duane worked for several businesses including Duane’s Felco Station in Kiester, Brua’s Auto, the elevators in Kiester and Conger; he also farmed and worked most recently for Interstate Motors. He enjoyed camping and working on cars with his son Barry, and particularly liked helping others. The time he spent with Barry was special to him, and he was glad to have him back in his life. Duane loved going to family “rebellion” (picnics).
Survivors include his wife Donna, children Barry (Donna) Frondal of Albert Lea, and Bryan Frondal of Lake Mills; granddaughter Amber Frondal of Phoenix, Ariz.; god-child Debra Oakland of Albert Lea; sister Jeanette (Richard) Aarback of Kensett, Iowa; brothers Richard (Gladys) Christiansen of Port Ludlow, Wash., Dale (Lois) Frondal of Danville, Ken., William (Sharrie) Frondal of Carmichael Calif., and Charles (Ann) Frondal of Rockford, Ill.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; brother-in-law Harold Riemann of Albert Lea, special kids Lisa and Curt Clark and Diane and Dale Anderson; as well as special friends Jim and Sharon Kopp and John and Delores Johnson.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Esther Frondal, his sister and brother-in-law Beverly (Roger) Korn, grandparents John and Carrie Christiansen and Severt and Leva Frondal, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Anna and Fred Riemann.
