Eugene (Butch) John Bybee died on Monday, July 15, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. He donated his body to science at the University of Minnesota.
He was born in Albert Lea on Oct. 3, 1942, the son of Samuel (Buster) and Arlyss Wallace Bybee.
Butch worked road construction with Highway Services until his retirement and had since spent his time making beautiful wood scrollwork clocks and other projects. He is now in heaven with his beloved parents and his special friend Joyce Baltzell who preceded him in death.
Butch is survived by his greatest joy – his daughter Anissa Kelly and grandchildren, Caitlyn, Tara and Zack Kelly of Robbinsdale. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Ken and Carol Bybee of Albert Lea; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Jerry Farrington of Soldotna, Alaska.; sister and brother-in-law Kathleen and Brad Taylor of Lake Stevens, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the nurses and doctors who were attentive to him during his cancer treatment and to his many friends who cared for him during his illness and especially in his final days.
A celebration of life will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Pizza Ranch in Albert Lea.
Those who knew Butch are encouraged to share their memories and meet others whose lives he touched.
