“Making a Windsor Chair” is the newest subject for the Albert Lea Art Center’s Dorothy Godtland Lecture Series.
Carole Bower and Don Johnson of Albert Lea are the scheduled speakers for the Dorothy Godtland Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Albert Lea Art Center. Bower and Johnson will jointly present on the Windsor chair. Their lecture is free and open to the public.
Bower lived in England for 10 years prior to moving to Albert Lea, with a small collection of English antique furniture. A Windsor chair remains in her home and will be shown along with history of the style. Johnson visited New Hampshire recently and enrolled in a make your own Windsor chair program. All original plans and procedures of carpentry were implemented in the class. Johnson’s chair will also be shown.
The Dorothy Godtland Lecture Series is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
