James Stripe, 54, Albert Lea

Funeral services for James D. Stripe of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Grace Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. Andrea Myers will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery Albert Lea.
James died Thursday evening, Aug. 29, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. He was 54 years of age.
James was born Nov. 23, 1958, in Battle Creek, Mich., and was the son of David and Dorothy (Leaf) Stripe. He graduated from Pennfield High School in Michigan in 1976. In 1980 he moved to Albert Lea where he met the love of his life, Tina Schoonover. On Oct. 24, 1981, they were united in marriage at the Hollandale Reformed Church.
James was the owner of Hair LTD for several years. He worked side by side with Tina at Flowers By Curt, managed the Albert Lea Country Club, was in accounting and sales at Kleen Tech and drove semi for Den Herder Trucking. He loved acting and participated in many community plays. James was an avid golfer and enjoyed cooking (especially his ribs). He was a diehard Michigan Wolverine fan.
James is survived by his wife Tina of Albert Lea, children Carlton, Karina and Chloe all of Albert Lea, father David Stripe, sisters Catherine (Doug) Ludlow of Battle Creek, Mary (Bryan) Stiemsma of Dowling, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy, and sister, Theresa Stripe.
