DULUTH — Operations in the Superior National Forest are getting back to normal with the end of the federal government shutdown.
Forest spokeswoman Kris Reichenbach said some campgrounds had to be closed due to the shutdown, and some forest roads were closed while roadwork was suspended. She said they hope to have their website updated by early next week to show which campgrounds are open and which ones are open but with limited services.
Until then, she said, people can call for updates.
Reichenbach said people are welcome to visit the forest this weekend. She says some fall colors are still visible though they’re past their peak, and viewing may be better inland. She said visitors should be aware there are hunters in the woods, and be prepared for changing weather conditions.
