HAYWARD — After being in business for more than 20 years, and at its current location since 2008, Becker Auto Sales has settled into its new home and is focusing on what it knows best, pickups and RVs.

The business moved into a 12,000-square-foot building in Hayward, just off Freeborn County Road 46, in October 2010. The building was necessary to build on the property that Becker had been on since 2008, said owner Mark Becker.

“We bought Hutch’s corner — it was an old gas station — and it didn’t work for what we wanted it for,” he said. “Now we built a brand new one to accommodate our equipment and everything that we’ve got here.”

Becker is originally from Alden but lives in Hayward. Becker Auto has been in business since 1989 and has four employees. Before moving to its current location, Becker operated out of the old implement building in Hayward.

Becker Auto usually has around 80 vehicles on the lot at any point and time. The dealership sells all makes and models of motor vehicles.

“We specialize in pickups and SUVs,” Becker said. “Three-quarter ton and one ton pickups, that’s what we specialize in.”

There are crossovers, compacts, vans and even a jet boat on the lot, and the dealer sells motorhomes.

“We do RV service and repair out here, too,” Becker said. “We sell some of them, too.”
