Students at Sibley Elementary School will team up with two professional actors to present Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre’s original musical version of the tale “Beauty and the Beast.”
The performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Southwest Little Theatre. The cost for the performance is $5 for adults and $2 for students.
“Beauty and the Beast,” with script and music by Daniel Nordquist and costume and set design by Deborah Pick, continues Prairie Fire’s Children’s Theatre’s tradition of presenting classic tales as people have never seen them done before.
Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre is a professional touring theater company based in Barrett and has been bringing a theatrical experience to communities across the upper Midwest since 1987. Prairie Fire tours a variety of original musical adaptations of classic tales.
Throughout the entire year, Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre sends two professional actors or directors to a community for a one-week residency. Local children fill the roles, and the theater group provides everything needed to do the show. After a week of rehearsing, the cast performs the play twice on the weekend. This theatre experience for students is funded by the Sibley parent’s group.
