AUSTIN — A woman charged with a felony for aiding an offender who hid in her trunk while she drove away from police was sentenced Thursday in Mower County District Court.
Tammy Davenport, 45, of Austin was sentenced to three years of supervised probation for aiding an offender.
Austin police officers arrested Tammy and Willister Davenport Jr. on May 7 after Willister fled officers and got into the trunk of a car that Tammy then drove away.
An officer was later in the 100 block of 13th Street Northeast and recognized a person, Willister, with outstanding warrants. Police say Willister ran from them and got into the trunk of a Buick. Officers pulled over the driver, Tammy, at an on-ramp to Interstate 90 and asked who was in the trunk. According to the police report, Tammy said Willister was in the trunk, but she was taking him to turn him in to the police.
Police arrested both Tammy and Willister. Police said Willister had outstanding warrants for theft, possession of stolen property and aggravated robbery. He was charged with fleeing an officer and liquor consumption under 21, both misdemeanors.
Willister was sentenced to 60 months in prison for aggravated robbery in a different case.
