Firefighters are battling a chemical fire at a fertilizer plant on property on the grounds of the airport according to the Mason City Globe.

Several residents reported hearing explosions when the fire broke out. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Residents in the neighborhoods around the airport are being evacuated. Highway 105 was blocked off in the area near the fire.
